Behind the music

A hard rock track about the internal battle between light and darkness and the danger of feeding what should stay contained.

Lyrics

[Intro – Whispered/Low Tone] “Don’t feed it... don’t speak it... don’t look it in the eyes…” [Verse 1 – Smoldering Tension] I bury the heat where the shadows stay, Behind my ribs where the ghosts decay. It waits in silence, it counts the days, Fangs in the dark, whisperin' ways. [Pre-Chorus – Building Intensity] I dress in calm like a second skin, But there’s something snarling deep within. The leash is frayed, the door won’t close, It sees the faultlines no one knows. [Chorus – Explosive / Guttural] I chain the beast, but it tears right through, Scars my soul in shades of blue. I cage the howl, it calls me out, Feeds on guilt and fear and doubt. (I can’t hold it forever.) [Verse 2] – Deeper Descent I cage the howl, but it splits the seams, Fights through the cracks in my stitched-up dreams. I choke on calm while my veins ignite, The animal’s clawing, ready to bite. (And I’m losing grip.) [Pre-Chorus] – Louder, Angrier I wear the light like it's a shield, But darkness cuts where it's not healed. That voice won't stop, it casts its spell, Pullin' me back to my private hell. [Chorus] – Repeat / Add Harmony I chain the beast, but it tears right through, Scars my soul in shades of blue. I cage the howl, it calls me out, Feeds on guilt and fear and doubt. (It’s not gone — just buried alive.) [Bridge – Spoken/Growled into Solo] You can’t chain the dark — you just pretend it’s gone, Shut the door and hope it stays withdrawn. But some nights... It finds the key and lets itself in. [crushing drop riff and screaming guitar solo] [Final Chorus – Full Power, Harmony Overdrive] I chained the beast, but now it’s free, Carved its name inside of me. I caged the howl — no use, no doubt, It’s who I am when the lights go out. [Outro – Whispered, Fading Reverb] The lock is rusted… the chains are thin… I’m not sure who’s trapped — or who’ll let who in.
